New Features and Bug Fixes in
Overseer Version 1.603
All three applications of the Overseer Suite were tested and approved for use with the Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. This is in addition to supporting Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0. (Note that Overseer Admin and Overseer LAN are supported under Windows XP only when using the Windows Classic theme and software version 1.603 or later. Users will be notified by the application to select the Windows Classic theme if another theme is active upon invoking Overseer Admin or Overseer LAN.)
The following bugs in Overseer 1.602 were fixed in version 1.603. Note that user action - in addition to installing the update - is needed before two of the bugs will be effectively corrected in existing databases (see 1 and 2 below).
- By design, the State/Province and Country designated in the address of the local school (via the School | Reference | Address tabsheet) should appear as the defaults for all other addresses entered by users of Overseer Admin. This was not correctly implemented until version 1.603. After installing Overseer Admin 1.603, the user must do the following, once only, in order for the local school State/Province and Country fields to become the active defaults. Go to the School | Reference | Address tabsheet for the Main database, click Edit, then End Edit.
- After editing the divisions for a school (via the School | Grade Levels menu option, Edit Divisions button and Grade Divisions screen), records may be missing from the Approved Usage of Marking Scheme table in the Marking Schemes screen (accessed via the School | Marking Schemes menu option) for one or more marking schemes. This was resolved in version 1.603, but will only take effect for existing marking schemes after doing the following: install Overseer Admin 1.603, invoke the School | Grade Levels menu option, click the Edit Divisions button, click Edit, Verify, then Ok and exit all screens. If there are any missing marking schemes in existing Grades databases, then either recreate the relevant term files for those Grades databases (via the Session | Create Grades Database menu option) or synchronize them with the master Overseer database (via the Session | Synchronize with Grades DB menu option).
- When adding an entity to one or more groups via the Group Subset listbox (accessed via the Directory | Groups detail screen, any of the Family, Child, Adult or Organization tabsheets, Add ... to group radio button and New Selection button), members which are added to one group could overwrite and effectively delete group members from another group. This was resolved in version 1.603.
- Faulty navigation of grid cells sometimes occurred when using the Tab key. This faulty behaviour was corrected for most, but not all, screen grids in version 1.603.
Although Overseer LAN was updated to version 1.603, there is no change to its functionality except for support for Windows XP. No changes were made to Overseer Grades.
