New Features and Bug Fixes in Overseer Version 1.900

The following new features were added to Overseer Admin 1.900 and Overseer LAN 1.900

  1. Profile reports can now be printed for all students at once instead of one at a time. The same is true of family profiles, adult profiles etc.
  2. There is now an option to print session notes and/or general notes for students, children, adults, families, teachers and organizations in profile reports. Notes of each type can also be designated as public or private. This classification can then be used to selectively print public notes only, all notes, or no notes.
  3. The designation of protected and non-protected notes was eliminated, so that all notes are retained indefinitely until explicitly deleted by a user.
  4. New fields have been added to the Family General tabsheet for recording a family's email address and cell phone number. These fields are automatically printed on Family and Student profile reports and export text files.
  5. There is a new Child report which enables printing of student name tags (for individuals or groups).
  6. It is now possible to print individual mailing labels for families, adults, children or organizations.
  7. Name tags and mailing labels can be printed starting from any column and row so as not to waste labels on partially-used sheets.
  8. A new class attendance term report has been added.
  9. A template for class marking lists can now be printed for use in manually capturing student marks prior to computer data entry.
  10. Subject category marks can now be replicated from one term to the next - to avoid repetitive data entry - when creating a Grades database for a second or subsequent term.
  11. Default marking schemes other than per cent can now be designated for each division. These are centrally set within Overseer Admin, but are ported to Overseer Grades when creating or synchronizing a Grades database.
  12. There is greater protection against data loss by requiring each user to explicitly indicate which data to transfer during importing of marks etc. from a Grades database.

The following new features were added to Overseer Grades1.900

  1. Function keys F5 - F12 are automatically programmed as short-cut keys for entering symbolic grades for tests in Grades subject component tables. They may also be programmed (via the Grades Preferences screen) for commonly-used subject category marks.
  2. Teachers can now print class marking templates (for manual recording of student marks) via Class files within the Grades application.
  3. Default marking schemes (other than per cent) can now be designated for each division. These must be pre-assigned via Overseer Admin prior to creating or synchronizing a Grades database.

The following issues in Overseer Admin 1.8XX and Overseer LAN 1.8XX were fixed in version 1.900 of these applications.

  1. When printing student report cards for a class in versions 1.8XX, the print files did not have student names in their titles so that individual report cards could not be identified if a user wanted to selectively delete some files from the print queue.
  2. Some student, child and adult reports containing family information did not print correctly when the family assignment and/or family address was missing.
  3. The student statistics report used to be based on the total student enrolment as of the active date, rather than solely on the students in the current student list (based on the selected filter and constraints). The update in 1.900 corrects this limitation, but also increases the time needed to generate the report.

The following bugs in Overseer Admin 1.8XX and Overseer LAN 1.8XX were fixed in version 1.900 of these applications.

  1. When printing student report cards for a class in versions 1.8XX, the Cancel button did not work correctly to enable interruption of printing, once started.
  2. There was a bug in the Notes tabsheet for child, adult and other detail screens when drilling down from a higher level screen (for which the Notes tabsheet had been opened) to a lower level Notes screen for a different entity type.
  3. A bug prevented printing marks on report cards for the fourth term of a school session.
  4. A fresh installation of Overseer Admin, starting from an empty database (NullDB), did not have the second table of the School | Marking Schemes screen populated correctly. This problem only resolved itself when the divisions were edited via the School | Grade levels menu option.

The following bug in Overseer Grades 1.8XX was fixed in version 1.900 of this application.

  1. There was a bug which prevented the Active status of a student from being edited, except on first entry to the form which allows editing of a Class file.

There are no revisions to Overseer Reports 1.808, which is compatible with the new Overseer 1.9 Suite of applications.

Upgrades to version 1.900 of the Admin, LAN and Grades applications should be made to all applications at the same time. Do not run with a mix of 1.8XX and 1.900 applications at the same school.
